Questions,
Answered

What do I need to bring with me?

Just yourself and your voice. We provide everything else, including the microphones, cameras, lighting and a teleprompter if you would like one. You are welcome to bring notes, a script or running order, and if you have anything specific in mind for the session, let your engineer know and they will set it up for you.

Is there parking?

Yes. There is free parking on-site. There is also EV charging available if you need it.

Where is the Studio located?

The Studio is at Unit 17 & 18, Wheatley Business Centre, Old London Road, Oxford, OX33 1XW. It is easy to reach by car off the A40 and M40, about 10 minutes from central Oxford, 40 from Reading, and an hour from London or Birmingham, with free parking right outside

Can I hear examples of podcasts recorded at the studio?

Yes. You can listen to a range of shows recorded here on our homepage.

The time I want is not showing. Can you still fit me in?

Possibly. The calendar shows our standard availability, but we can sometimes accommodate earlier starts, later finishes or times that are not listed. Send us the day and time you are after and we will do our best to make it work.

How do I pay, and how do I know my booking is confirmed?

You do not pay when you book. Once you have chosen your time, you will receive a confirmation email and a second email with a payment link. Your slot is reserved as soon as you book, and payment simply needs to be settled before your recording day. If you have not received a confirmation email, check your spam folder or get in touch and we will resend it.

Is there a minimum booking?

Yes, the minimum session is one hour. You can then book in one-hour blocks for as long as you need.

How much does it cost?

Audio recording is £90 per hour and audio with video is £180 per hour. Both prices include VAT, and that is the full price you pay. There are no setup fees or hidden extras. The audio engineer, the studio, the equipment and your raw files are all included.

How many episodes can I record?

As many as you like. There is no limit within your session, and plenty of clients batch several episodes in one sitting to make the most of their time. Just book enough hours to cover what you want to record.

How many people can you record?

We can record up to four speakers at once, each on their own professional microphone, for both audio and video. There is room for up to eight people in the studio in total, so producers, guests or colleagues can sit in and listen while you record.

Can you record a remote guest, or a down the line interview?

Yes. If a guest cannot attend in person, we can run a hybrid session with you in the studio and your guest joining remotely, with their audio recorded cleanly. We can also handle down the line interviews where your producer connects remotely.

Can a producer or director join the session remotely?

Yes. As well as recording remote guests, we can have a producer or director join the session remotely to listen in and give direction while you record in the studio. Let us know in advance and we will set it up.

For a video session, is someone operating the cameras?

Yes. Video sessions include a professional videographer who sets up and operates the four cameras and the lighting throughout. You do not run any of the equipment yourself.

Will there be someone to help me?

Yes. A dedicated audio engineer runs your entire session, from setup and sound checks through to recording. You do not need any technical knowledge. You focus on the conversation and we handle everything else.

What happens if we run over?

If the studio is free after your session, you are welcome to extend on the day. Additional time is charged at the standard hourly rate.

Can I use the files with my own editor or agency?

Yes. The files we deliver are standard, high-quality raw files that any editor or agency can work with. Plenty of our clients take their recordings away to edit in-house or with their own team. If you would prefer us to edit and produce the finished episode, we offer that as a separate service through Story Ninety-Four, so just ask.

What do I get, and how soon?

We master your tracks and send your raw files within one working day. You receive an individual track for each microphone plus a single merged track. For video sessions you also receive all of the raw video footage from every camera.
